This May, British interiors brand, Neptune, opens its first-ever café within its city centre store in historic Bath.

By sourcing ingredients from small, local growers such as Bath Farm Girls who are one of the few British quinoa farmers and Oxford’s Modern Baker who fuse leading scientific research with slow-carb baking techniques to produce health-centric breads and biscuits, Neptune’s The Provenist offers a transparent, entirely traceable menu with a focus on doing the right thing for your body.

Shojin Ryori - Plant Based living and mindfulness

Sozai Japanese Cookery School has the exciting pleasure of welcoming Master Toshai Tanahashi to Bath to host a talk about The zen buddhist discipline on Shojin Ryori at Nourish Restaurant. As well as the talk he will offering a meditation practice and Q&A session. Japanese tea and vegan sweets will also be served.

Shojin Ryori is an ancient Buddhist discipline that combines plant-based diets, living mindfully and meditation as one holistic practice for life!

Its the name for the cooking discipline used by the monks in Buddhist Monasteries, it involves only vegetables and excludes certain vegetables because of the strength of their flavours. Join us a find out ore about Master Tanahashi and why he talks to his vegetables and his first visit in any country os to the market to meet the local veg!

Master Tanahashi enjoys almost cult status in Japan and has been a guest chef in many of the worlds most famous restaurants. Alain Ducasse amongst other high profile chefs is a big fan.

He used to own a fine dining Shojin restaurant, he was probably the only high profile chef in the world with a calm, mindful kitchen with no shouting!

Discover how to make Bath Tub Gin at home and how to forage and then infuse seasonal berries, flowers and herbs to create Foraged Booze Infusions.

Course Details
During the evening you will sample each drink and then learn how to forage and identify, prepare and make the foraged tipple infusions.

You will learn how to make a selection of seasoanl drinks:

Bath Tub Gin
Botanical Gins
Rhubarb and Ginger Gin
Elderflower Vodka
Rosehip Vodka
Seasonal Berry Rum
The class will be a combination of hands on and demonstration, with lots of tips and recipes.

This Indian cookery course features recipes from Southern India, a haven for vegetarians and vegans. Many of our thali recipes are inspired by Tamil Nadu, the southernmost state of India which is almost exclusively vegetarian. We also take influence from Kerala and it’s array of wonderful coconut dishes

Course Details
On this Indian cooking course you will learn to identify unusual Indian ingredients and where to source them. You’ll also learn about ingredients and dishes that are specific to Kerala and Tamil Nadu. We will cook with Indian vegetables such as chow chow, methi leaves, long beans, green papaya and baby aubergines. We’ll use the flavours of jaggary, tamarind and coconut and spices such as cardamom, cinnamon, cumin, ginger, cloves, garlic, turmeric, coriander and fresh curry leaves.

We will start this course with one of the most fundamental of all Indian cookery lessons: making fresh spice blends. Bese bele, a southern garam masala, and Sambaar powder, a Tamil Nadu spice mix enriched with lentils, will both get used to produce a range of delicious recipes. Book Here

This class celebrates the wonderful phenomenon that is ‘brunch’. From breakfast breads to the perfect Mexican fry up, join us for a morning of healthy delights, guaranteed to transform your weekends.

Course Details
We will start by making a super nutty granola from scratch to eat with seasonal berries and a refreshing mango lassi, then make easy quick sweet potato rostis to eat with delicious toppings. Finish with warm cinnamon buns.
