The Gondoliers
13 - 17 April 2010
The Theatre Royal Bath Operatic and Dramatic Society (BOD) presents ‘The Gondoliers’ which deservedly is one of the most popular of the Gilbert & Sullivan Operettas and is updated to the late Victorian/Edwardian era - a glamorous period of "bustles" and "beaux" including a line up eccentric "Royals". This sumptuous production originated at the Buxton International Festival to rave reviews, especially for the lavish settings, wonderful costuming and fresh innovative choreography culminating in the dazzling "Cachucha", which never ceases to award encore after encore. Be transported into the romantic bustling streets of Venice with handsome Gondoliers serenading the unmistakable Sullivan melodies. "Take a pair of sparkling eyes", "In enterprise of martial kind", "Rising early in the morning" and the famous "Gavotte" are just a few of the favourites which are guaranteed to have the audiences humming the tunes for days afterwards.
