Bath 360 - Tourist Guide To Bath

The Museum of East Asian Art - New Exhibition

01 May to 23 Aug 2009

Treasures of the Museum of East Asian Art
Since opening its doors to the public in 1993, the Museum of East Asian Art has been a beacon of East Asian art and culture in the west of England and houses one of the most remarkable collections of East and Southeast Asian art in the United Kingdom. Treasures of the Museum of East Asian Art celebrates the development of the Museum’s collection over the past fifteen years and highlights some of its masterpieces.

Fish of Plenty: Auspicious Nature in Chinese Art
A collaborative photography project between the Museum of East Asian Art and photographer Simon Ferguson. By looking at individual objects in the Museum’s collection of Chinese art in detail, Simon discovers a world in miniature, of auspicious symbols. Through these symbols, the objects are reinterpreted in photographs and presented from a different point of view than they would normally be experienced.
