Compagnie Giulia’s five band members, including former ELO cello player Mike Edwards, combine their wealth of knowledge of the European and Levantine classical, early and folk traditions with instruments as varied as the bass viol, Greek bouzouki, Turkish saz and mandolin. Their latest performance, ‘Far Beyonden the Sea’ includes music from the time of the crusades, music from countries bordering the Mediterranean and newly composed songs to Middle English lyrics.
