Two Day Half Term Event:
FREE family activity days in Bristol on International Children’s Day.

Dates: Tuesday 1 June (International Children’s Day, during half term) & Wednesday 2 June 2010
Venue: College Green, Bristol
Timing: 11 – 5pm each day. Artwork unveiling (see below) at 1.30pm on Tuesday 1 June.

Event: A free family activity day including world music, games and international arts and crafts, with leading anti-poverty charity ActionAid.

Bristol’s College Green will come alive on Tuesday 1 & Wednesday 2 June as children and families are invited to play games, take part in international arts and crafts and enjoy performances of live world music.

The MAKE YOUR MARK event will give children and families a taste of life in different countries and cultures.

At 1.30pm on Tuesday 1 June a giant West Country artwork, created by hundreds of people from across Bristol, Bath, Somerset and Devon will be unveiled.

The event will be the culmination of ActionAid’s, MAKE YOUR MARK campaign, run exclusively in the West Country through May. People in the area will be asked to make their mark by sending in a drawing of themselves, which will be used to create a large digital mosaic of 5 year old Enid from Uganda, which will be unveiled on College Green.

Enid hopes to make her mark on her village by becoming a teacher. But first she needs to go to school. Taking part in the artwork will help raise awareness of the 72 million children around the world who do not attend school because of poverty.
Bristol and the West Country were chosen for the campaign because people here are already some of the most generous in the country, with over 6000 child sponsors across Bristol, Bath, Somerset and Devon alone.

ActionAid are looking for 1000 more people to make their mark on the world and sponsor a child.
